EU Earth Overshoot Day 2026: How EASI ZERo Helps #MovetheDate

EU Earth Overshoot Day 2026 falls on 3 May.

This marks the date when, if everyone in the world lived like the average EU resident, humanity would have used all the biological resources Earth can regenerate in one year.

This day is a reminder that Europe must reduce both emissions and resource use.

As we know, the building sector is one of the most important places to act. Buildings account for around 36% of CO₂ emissions and 40% of energy consumption. They also require large volumes of materials and generate significant impacts throughout their life cycle. This is where EASI ZERo can make a difference, with our low-impact envelope system, both for deep renovation and new construction.

We are developing:

  • bio-based and recycled construction materials,
  • high-performance insulation solutions
  • healthy interior finishes

With these solutions, EASI ZERo aims to improve the thermal performance of building envelopes while reducing embodied impacts. By supporting energy efficiency, reusability, recyclability and easier installation, the project helps reduce the environmental footprint of buildings across their full life cycle.

Delaying EU Earth Overshoot Day will require action across many sectors. With our focus on sustainable materials, circularity and scalable renovation solutions, EASI ZERo contributes to that transition.
